Hi there, I also was looking about Jeeps from the Swiss Army and you are right, like you I have found nothing. One idea could be that the Swiss Army did not use decalls and labelings, just green? Somebody here with other opinions?
The Swiss Army hasn’t been using any particularly labels on their vehicles like e.g. the US Army. Sometimes 3 numbers are written on tanks (e.g. 321: 3rd company, 2nd platton, 1st tank).
What you will find on all Swiss Army military vehicles is a silver plate, with letters and numbers (e.g. MMW on the pics in the above link). When knowing the letters, you can tell which unit it was at a certain time. The labels are changed regularly… So the only thing for your CJ-5 is stripping all the US markings and get a silver front and back plate.
The Swiss Army bought 1125 CJ-5, in use from 1964 bis 1997. It is not known, how many of them were 24V. The 24V were used with different radio sets, the 24V were NOT only used with airforce units.
Two collegues and I wrote a book about nearly all Swiss Army vehicles and tanks. We dedicated a few pages to the different Jeep versions with period pictures.
